Malcolm X Birthday Weekend Celebration!

Every year it is important for us to recognize the birthday of Malcolm X (El Hajj Malik El Shabazz) through educational family-friendly experiences right in the heart of North Omaha. Join us for this free weekend in honor of his birthday on May 19th! On Friday, May 14th, we will have candles provided for the "Ribbon in the Sky Candlelight Vigil" plus a screening of the documentary "MALIK" with popcorn provided. On Saturday and Sunday, we will be open for a few extra hours for educational tours. Bring your kids and neighbors for any or all of the events!
Shabazz Community Garden
It's garden season!!! Join us Saturday Mornings from 10am - 12pm for all ages to learn how to plant and care for garden produce. If you're a builder, a planter, a giver, or just plain curious about gardening come on over! We are currently building new beds for families or individuals to care for.
We are officially a part of the statewideNebraska Passport program! If you're unfamiliar, visitors who have a traveling bug and aim to get out into the cultural attractions of their state are encouraged to get stamps when they visit various sites. If you want to join the program, it is free and you can get an official passport book then next time you visit our site for a tour!
Monday Yoga Sessions
Yoga is back on Monday evenings at 6 p.m. at the 4MX Greenhouse! All ages are welcome to attend starting May 10th thru July 12th, 2021. With a suggested donation of $10 per session, sessions are meant to be a rejuvenating experience and no one will be turned away! All abilities, all races, all commitment levels are always welcome!
Development Plans
Our next phase of development aims at prioritizing updates to our outdoors plaza area with an initial fundraising goal of $250k! It will include updated signage, an outline of where Malcolm's childhood home stood and a Visitors Cottage.
